GHSU, UGA students get the “visiting scholar” experience

This spring semester, UGA doctoral student Julie Rushmore and GHSU doctoral student Wararat Kittikulsuth are getting a taste of the“visiting scholar” experience through the GHSU/UGA Student Seminar Exchange Award for Excellence in Biomedical Research.

Created in 2002 to foster research interactions between UGA and Augusta University, the program honors the overall scientific merit and quality of the students’ work, as well as mastery of their scientific field and verbal presentation skills.  Each was awarded a $250 stipend and invitation to present a research seminar at the other institution with travel and accommodations provided.

Kittikuluth, a fifth year doctoral student in Experiment Medicine, visited UGA on May 8. Her seminar, titled ” The regulation of ET system in the kidney by Angiotensin II,” was co-sponsored by the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Rushmore, a DVM/Ph.D. student in the Odum School of Ecology and College of Veterinary Medicine at UGA, will present her seminar at the GHSU campus in Augusta, Ga. in June.
