Mission of the Institute

 The mission of BTSI is to advance biomedical discoveries, approaches, and innovations that can be translated to impact health through multidisciplinary collaborations.

BTSI seeks to address the challenges related to the translation of basic scientific discovery into clinical delivery through the development of innovative technical methods and novel collaborative approaches. Our institute welcomes participation from anyone vested in biomedical translational research. Whether you are a professional scientist, university student, or an industry professional seeking answers to today’s therapeutic challenges, we aim to incorporate all relevant perspectives into effective solutions.

Membership Benefits

 The benefits of membership include promotion of your publications and affiliation with an intellectual community of individuals from the various fields committed to biomedical and translational research.

Opportunities for Collaboration

  • Join the BTSI mailing list – receive our official newsletter, information on institute events, posting of opportunities, and general discussion
  • Attend a BTSI educational event. Event announcements are circulated via the BTSI mailing list.
  • Institute Membership – If you believe your expertise and research could benefit from a relationship with our institute, please fill out our membership form or contact our staff (btsi@uga.edu) and request more information about membership.  Membership expectations include participation at BTSI events, and a request to list the BTSI as a secondary affiliation on any thematically relevant publications.

Membership Requirement

  •  UGA faculty member with current or planned activities in the areas of biomedical translational science via research, publications, grantsmanship, instruction, Extension, and/or service who want to participate in a dynamic, multidisciplinary ecosystem within UGA and the Georgia CTSA..
  • Whether you are a professional scientist, university student, an industry professional, or someone who provides support and/or mentorship to people seeking answers to today’s health challenges, BTSI provides a supportive community.
  • Membership expectations include participation at BTSI events, and a request to list the BTSI as a secondary affiliation on any thematically relevant publications.

Membership applications for the Institute are accepted at any time throughout the year. Applications should be submitted using our membership form:

  • Headshot
  • 50 to 75-word summary of expertise and interests
  • A current, abbreviated CV
