Joy Doran-Peterson was recently featured in the magazine International Innovation. The article, titled “A return to biomanufacturing,” appears in the November issue of International Innovation, reveals how the University of Georgia is training a new generation bio-manufacturing leaders for a growing industry in green energy and biopharmaceuticals.

Doran-Peterson, an associate professor of microbiology, serves as director of  the Master of Biomanufacturing and Bioprocessing (MBB) Program in the UGA Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute.  In 2010, the BHSI was awarded a three-year, $700,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to create a Professional Science Master’s program in biomanufacturing and bioprocessing and capitalize on UGA’s academic strengths, facilities and industry ties. Only 21 of 210 universities were selected to receive the highly competitive award.

International Innovation is published by Research Media Limited, a British company. According to the publisher, the magazine is “the leading global dissemination resource for the wider scientific, technology, and research communities.”
