UGA grad students, postdocs gather for annual Scientific Research Day

The UGA Graduate Students and Postdocs in Science (GSPS) will hold its fourth annual Scientific Research Day today at the Pharmacy South building of the College of Pharmacy. This free, interdisciplinary event will feature presentations by graduate students and postdoctoral associates from the University of Georgia research community. Now accepting applications for the 2012 ARCS Foundation and Global Impact Awards

The Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute is seeking applicants for the 2012 ARCS® Foundation Awards for doctoral students in the biomedical and health sciences. These awards, in the amount of $7,500 each, will be granted during 2012-2013 academic year as a supplement to any assistantship from UGA. UGA Neuroscience Spring Symposium to be held April 20

The UGA Neuroscience Student Association and the Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute’s Neuroscience Ph.D. Program will be hosting the 2012 Neuroscience Spring Symposium on April 20 from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Coverdell Center. The Atlanta ARCS Foundation awards $70,000 to support nine UGA graduate students

The Atlanta chapter of the ARCS® Foundation, Inc. recently awarded $70,000 to nine outstanding doctoral students in biomedical and health sciences at the University of Georgia, one of whom received a special $10,000 grant for global health research abroad. Wildlife Disease Student Research Symposium Speakers/Travel Award Winners Selected

The travel award winners of the first Wildlife Disease Student Research Symposium, hosted by the UGAscWDA and BHSI, have been announced. “Greed is Good!” – Strengthen your fellowship proposal with a mock review

Phase 3 of the “Greed is Good!” Fellowship Writing Workshop for graduate students and postdoctoral associates is underway. This is an opportunity for those interested in finding their own funding opportunities to avoid the common pitfalls associate with first submissions, but allowing an assembled group of UGA faculty to pre-review their application and help them fix it BEFORE they submit it to the funding agency.

April 7 Seminar – Skin Cancer and Vitamin D

On Thursday, April 7, Michael Kimlin, professor of cancer prevention research and director of the Australian National Center for Research Excellence in Sun and Health at the Queensland University of Technology, Australia, will visit UGA to present a seminar titled, “Skin cancer and Vitamin D – can sun exposure really be good for you? A review of the evidence.”
